2017 SEASON NATIONAL SQUADS TRIALS DAY

Any player without previous squads involvement, or previous squad attendees who haven’t been involved for 5 years or more, who are interested in joining one of the Squads – Mens Under 21s, Womens Under 21s, Senior Mens, Senior Womens – from which the teams to represent G.B. at the 2017 European Championships will be selected, is invited to a trials day on Sunday 2nd October 2016.

The Trials Day will give attendees the chance to establish where they are in terms of their paddling progress. If considered to be of the necessary standard they will be invited to attend the Squads weekend in November. All who attend the trials day will receive feedback on their performance – what they are doing well and those area to work on in the future. 

Although the day is open to all, to attend paddlers should really have been competing regularly in the National League. Experience of competing in International Club tournaments is desirable but not essential. Paddlers will be assessed on boat skills, ball handling, game awareness and fitness.

N.B. In terms of eligibility for the 2017 Under 21 Squads, you must be Under 21 on 31st December 2017.

Players attending in the hope of being selection to the Mens of Womens Under 21 Squad but who fail to be selected MAY be offered the opportunity to join the Academy if they satisfy the necessary criteria. (Players under the age of 18 will normally be referred to the Academy in the first instance).

(Note that this invitation is also extended to anyone intereted in taking on a MANAGEMENT, COACHING or ADMINISTRATIVE responsibility within the Squads structure).

Details of the day are as follows:

Venue : Hatfield Water Park, Old Thorne Road, Hatfield, Doncaster, DN7 6EQ.

Time : Meet : 9.30 a.m. for a PROMPT 10 a.m. start.

Finish : 4 p.m.

Cost : £15

Bring : Polo boat (!), buoyancy aid, helmet, spray deck, paddles

 

Wet session clothing sufficient for (potentially) 3 water sessions

Gym kit & training shoes

Packed Lunch. (Tea and coffee will be provided).

Appropriate fluids

Note book and pen

(Squad sessions are normally held on the first weekend of each month, the first full weekend being scheduled for Saturday/Sunday 5th/6th November, at the same venue.)
